Screen Time

This week I am going to show you two easy, off the shelf ways to display your flat screen TV.  The first is minimal and works best for those of us who mainly stream movies or shows. I'll also include a few of my favorite TV consoles for those who need the extra storage space for their gaming devices or media sound systems. The consoles shown here not only work as media stations, they can be side boards for a living or dining room. The key to choosing a sideboard that works as a media station is all about the door. Choose one that is either glass or a perforated material to allow infrared light to transmit the signal.

Canvas on Stand

Mid-Century Decor will never run out of style, and natural wood tones bring warmth into every space. The modern-day flat panel TV allows this timeless design trend to head into a lighter dimension.

JALG has a Leg!

If you have a large room or simply love to indulge in larger than life screen experiences, then get a leg up with JALG. The XL leg option will fit screens up to 77”. With an array of color finishes to choose from, you won’t need to sacrifice Design over Screen time.

JALG in Hair Pin

For the color enthusiast, Jalg has you covered. The wooden legs are switched out with these ingenious metal hairpins for a more industrial feel. This powder coated hairpin leg is not only strong but elegantly versatile. I have shown you how to DIY your Dining table under “The Memory Maker” blog post some time ago, and here is another great example of how great design can take you from the dining room to beyond.

Creative Easel

Instead of showing you how beautiful a TV looks from the front of this easel stand, I'd like to draw your attention to the thoughtful design from the back, which cleverly accommodates storage for a streaming box

Wheel Everywhere

If mobility is key to your indoor lifestyle, whether it's small studio living or an office conference layout, then these cluster wheels will certainly glide through any space with ease.

Black to White

A clean white, tailored profiled frame takes this Screen from ordinary home to Museum worthy. Substance and Style all in one!!

Back to Basics

Here is a very budget friendly console from Ikea. Simple white cabinet with a milky effect glass door. The glass panel itself is semi-transparent which allows the infrared remote to work properly, while hiding away all the wires and black boxes.

Sophisticated Industrial

A boxy metal cabinet can easily project an overly industrial/dorm vibe which may not work for modern/ contemporary decor. However, this metal cabinet was elevated from rustic industrial to a sophisticated cool by refining many details including the use of warm white paint and solid wood dowel handles.

Rich and Earthy

These slim brass door frames with wire mesh panels fit all the basic requirements of a good media console. The best part is when the subtle warm hues of brushed brass softly reflect light and bring a little “c’est la vie” into the room. It is as much a functional piece of furniture as a jewel. To keep the overall design elegant but not over the top, I would suggest using a balanced mix of off white/ creams and earthy tones throughout.

The Hero Drawers

Another remote-friendly version of the metal perforated door panel comes in a few more finishes. Alternatively, this credenza will work beautifully in your dining room as well. The two drawers in the center make storing and organizing special occasion table settings or accessories much easier.

Add a Little Curve.

Sometimes our space just needs a little curve to break up those rigid lines. This beautiful, sturdy and fun piece is constructed with perforated metal panels all around and engineered wood sandwiching it together. Spacious enough to fit plenty of devices inside.
