ETSY Find - USA edition

Throughout the months , you've seen many modern furniture pieces that are produced by well-established companies both large and small. This week we'll take our time to admire and celebrate pieces designed and built by either a single craftsman or small independent shops around the States. This particular post is dedicated to finds on Etsy, a website where you can buy and sell handcrafted pieces all over the world. Although this is an international marketplace, I'll only be showing the US market this week, and later on, we'll venture into the rest of the world. One last thing to know before we start our US journey is that many of the companies I'll be introducing below have other quality pieces available on their Etsy sites. I highly recommend you take a deeper look into their pages to discover more pieces which are not showcased here. Enjoy!!

At first glance, you may think the Dining table I’m showing you has the structure of a Pergola. In fact, the very same idea of a post and beam support with its refined and intricate design is proudly demonstrated here. This LA based designer chose Baltic plywood not only to showcase the material’s strength but also to assist in the detailing. What a clever concept!!! It has a sister coffee table which is detailed and constructed in a similar but different manner, and both are meticulously built for long lasting enjoyment.

Custom Made to order Japanese Inspired Daybed turned into overnight queen sized guest bed. The solid platform before the expansion is beautiful enough to use without a mattress. Add a low wooden tray in the middle with small square seat cushions on either side to transform it into an Asian inspired seating bench. Let your imagination go wild!!

This Nevada based craftsman truly knows what gamer enthusiasts need for their media console. A beautifully crafted slatted flip down panel neatly conceals all your machines when the action is over.

This Texas Craftsman brought in a whole lot of whimsical into their furniture design and mixed it with a strong sense of behind the scenes sustainability. Not only are these pieces locally designed and made, the Artist prioritizes locally sourced materials as well. This means an overall lower transportation carbon footprint while supporting local business. Do-good furniture that looks equally good!

This Massachusetts based company looked into the high cost of bulk item shipments and came up with a strategy for their line of products. In order to lower the cost of each quality build piece, much of their furniture comes flat packed and installation is tool free. If you don’t mind taking on some assembling tasks, this can be a beautiful and solid choice for your space. The dowel style supports and shelves are all made out of solid beechwood, and with care, this piece will age beautifully in your space.

This Massachusetts based company produces a line of beautiful Mid-Century inspired furniture all in solid wood. I particularly like this bookcase because of the added curves and whimsical details that make this otherwise robust bookcase quite graceful. The sturdy base and frame makes this a great solid candidate as a room divider as well.

These gorgeously preserved stumps are the perfect pieces to introduce the magical creation of mother nature inside your home or office. The versatility of this humble tree stump can only be limited by our imaginations. Is it a seat or a working surface? Is it a sculpture or furniture?

This Chicago based company offers a variety of solid wood products from benches to sink vanities, many of which are built with old reclaimed wood salvaged from barns and factories. In order to showcase the best of these wood species, clear and non-VOC based coating is used to protect the pieces. Reclaimed wood furniture often projects an aesthetic which can be more rustic. If you want to incorporate these meaningful pieces into your interior, pick pieces that are simple in form to allow the wood grain to do all the “talking”.
