DESIGN + IDEA LAB

YINWAIAU rolled out a new DESIGN+IDEA LAB package for budget-friendly renovations. It is a design method which differs a bit from traditional full service Architectural and Interior Design.

This unique DESIGN+IDEA LAB method engages the client to play a very active role in the design process. The Architect is there to provide quality, design control and guidance, while advising the client through their selections without being overly controlling and hands on. Our client can then fully immerse themselves in the selection process.

To further elaborate, in a typical Client + Designer setting, the Designer is the one screening out hundreds, if not thousands of products for their client, while DESIGN+IDEA LAB offers the reverse of this procedure. Let’s use a Kitchen backsplash as an example, where our client gathers 20-30 items that he/she likes and sends them over to me for review and comment. I then provide them with the pros and cons of their choices. After a couple of rounds of back and forth, we end up with 3-5 items for final review which the client typically orders physical samples of,  and together we pick a winner. 

In his reverse process, the client actively participates in research, screening and decision making. This allows the Designer/ Architect to spend less time on the selection process of the project, and in turn gets a better rate for the client without sacrificing any Design. This particular method works well for autonomous clients who value high-end design on a tight budget.

DESIGN+IDEA LAB FEE STRUCTURE

DESIGN+IDEA LAB  is available to purchase in half day units as listed below:

One (1) Half Day DESIGN+IDEA LAB = (4 hours) of Design + Consultation for just $800;   Ideal for smaller projects from a complete kitchen reconfiguration to small studio space planning.

Two (2) Half Day DESIGN+IDEA LABS = (8 hours) of Design + Consultation for just $1550; Ideal for larger projects from multiroom spaces to programming and Design assistance. We suggest utilizing the First Half Day to site measure, and on the Second Half Day I will work with you to create some preliminary floor plan options based on your wishes and my professional suggestions.
